Giving the gift of life

LifeStream is partnering with Love Riverside and seeking volunteers to donate blood as their project for our Love Riverside Serve Day.  The volunteer will need to sign up for an appointment on Saturday, October 12th at Lifestream Donation Center at:

https://giftoflife.lstream.org/donor/schedules/center/4

The volunteer will need to go to the Lifestream Donation Center to give blood (allow for an hour). When you arrive, please have them enter the code for Love Riverside: MLVA so you can receive credit for your volunteer service (and also receive a free Love Riverside T-shirt).

The center is located at:

Lifestream Donation Center, 4006 Van Buren Boulevard Riverside, CA 92503  (951) 687-2530

The volunteer will receive their free Love Riverside T-shirt at the Donation Center after they give blood.

Instructions for Giving Blood:

EAT UP!  -  Iron and Vitamin C: Combining foods rich in iron and Vitamin C will boost your body’s strength. Think green veggies and citrus fruits. Salty snacks: A healthy amount of salty snacks can help make your next blood donation a positive experience. Pretzels, anyone? But don’t skip meals: Think of blood donation as a normal part of your day. Don’t skip or add meals to your normal routine. Just add in some healthy snacks.

DRINK UP!  -  Hydration is important before and after your donation. The more water you drink the easier your blood moves through your body and the quicker you can replace the pint you gave!

GET MOVING!  -  In the moments before and during your donation do simple tension exercises. Tense the muscles in your arms, legs or core for a few seconds, then relax and repeat. These simple moves will keep your blood moving for a relaxing donation!
