Collection of food for pantries in Alvord School District, benefitting students and families in Riverside

In the United States today, millions of kids start the school day on an empty stomach. It is hard for them to focus and learn. Hunger hurts their grades, their health and their happiness.

Alvord Cares concept is simple: children at risk of weekend hunger receive a bag of food that is student-friendly, nutritious, nonperishable and easy to eat.  We will be collecting Non-perishable food items (list below) to stock our pantries at our schools to support our families in need.

List of sample food items to donate:

Canned Fruit

Canned Vegetables

Canned Chili, stew, soups, broth

Canned or Dry Beans/lentils

Canned Meats(chicken,tuna)

Canned Ravioli/spaghetti

Canned Diced green chilies

Canned Evaporated Milk

Dry Pasta Noodles  / Rice

Tomato sauce or Spaghetti Sauce

Cereals / Oatmeal
